The trailer for Bel Ami, adapted from the Guy de Maupassant novel and starring Robert Pattinson (The Twilight Saga), hit the web July 23.
The footage follows Pattinson as a young man in 1890s Paris who moves from pauper to power through his charms and his seduction and manipulation of wealthy women and wives with influence.
The film costars Uma Thurman (Kill Bill), Kristin Scott Thomas (Nowhere Boy), Christina Ricci (Monster) and Colm Meaney (The Damned United).
The film is directed by British theater director/writer Declan Donnellan and co-artistic director/designer of the well-respected Cheek by Jowl Company Nick Ormerod.
Without a release date, the IndieWire's Playlist column suggests the film may premiere at the 2011 Toronto Film Festival in September.
